Ford Fiesta Mk2 Bonus II
The Bonus II was the last of the special edition model Mark II Ford Fiestas. Released in January 1989, it was short lived, as the replacement Mk3 bodyshape was released not long after in February of the same year. It's not easy to tell it apart from the first limited run of Bonus editions as it's practically the same! Both models were essentially a Popular base model finished in one of the two colour you would normally pay extra for, Black or Strato silver. The only difference listed in the brochures of the two models is that the Bonus II had 4.5J wheels, as opposed to the slightly wider 5J versions fitted to the Bonus, possibly a cost saving measure from Ford.
As with the Bonus, the 'II' version was only available with a 950cc engine and four speed gearbox. The inside was finished with Klee cloth and a grey fleece carpet and a P21 push button radio provided the entertainment. Externally the cars came with the standard low spec bumpers and solitary drivers side mirror, with the wheels sporting some very 80's white wheel trims.
It's hard to determine which cars are listed correctly on our Fiesta register as almost all cars were classed as 'Bonus' when originally submitted to the DVLA. It's likely that a lot of the later cars listed as a Bonus model are in fact a Bonus II, but with the possiblity of early cars having sat around on dealer forecourts for a while, we dont know for sure.
