Mk2 Ford Fiesta Festival Model Info
The Ford Fiesta Festival was a special edition Mk2 released in February 1987. The car came equipped with a 1.1 engine and a choice of 4 or 5 speed gearbox, a manual choke and 13" steel wheels with white plastic trims. The interior was finished in Sandford patterned cloth and full height door cars, low spec dash and a centre console with integrated radio, coin slot and large strorage tray (this centre console is known as the festival centre console).
When registering these cars dealers often wrote 'festival' on the logbook form for both this and the later festival II version. In some cases Festival 1 models that had been hanging around on dealership forecourts were registered as Festival II's despite the spec not matching at all. The easiest way to tell them apart (excluding the year) is by the exterior body graphics if they are still present, if the car has a stripe with fiesta graphic that runs just below the windows, and a narrow rubber bump strip along the swage line in the door, then its a Festival. If the graphic runs along lower down the door and it has a wide side moulding (like L or Ghia models) then it's a Festival II. The Festival II also didnt have the sought after centre console.
