Squires Cafe Ford Meet April 2016 Event Photos
Despite a rainy start and a slightly muddy field, there was a strong attendance for the first Fordmeet event of 2016. The event was held for the second consecutive year at the popular Squires Bikers Cafe near Sherburn-in-Elmet, Leeds. The cafe is a licensed venue run by and for bikers, with a large field to the rear which the owners are happy to loan out for events.
A wide range of cars showed up, and amongst the sea of newer (and maybe slightly less interesting to us retro fans) vehicles, there were plenty of Retro and Classic Fords on display.
Sunday was a popular day for Ford Shows with this event sharing the day with another local event in Leyburn, but this didn't seem to have an impact on numbers visiting Squires. The organisers worked hard to get everyone onto the field with plenty of straw and gravel being spread around and lots of good spirited people giving cars a push where needed.
Several Mk1 and Mk2 Fiestas turned out (mainly XR2 models) including a very nice HPE performance stickered and fully roll-caged Mk1, and a base spec red Mk2 with wide wheels and a tidy blacktop Zetec installation with bike carbs attached.
A distinctive Reiger F40 kitted Escort and a immaculate red smiley faced SWB transit sitting on top of a white recovery truck version were amongst the less commonly seen vehicles on display as well as a former North Riding Mk1 Transit ambulance.
