Mk1 Ford Fiesta Sandpiper Model Information
The Mk1 Sandpiper was a limited edition model based on the 1.1L, released in December 1979, only 2500 cars were produced. The Sandpiper was available predominantly in a two tone colour scheme, Roman Bronze over Cordoba Beige or alternatively a limited number were produced as a single colour with Roman Bronze metallic finish.
Equipment wise, the car had the same spec as the L model it was derived from but with some additions.
External additions
On top of the L spec, the Sandpiper had full length protective strips running down the sides of the car, it also featured slightly wider rims (4.5J) with bright chrome effect embelishers, It also had a tailgate turnlock.
Interior Changes
The interior was improved by luxurious Ghia-style seats upholstered in a special combination of bitter chocolate and tan fabrics with adjustable front head restraints. The sandpiper also had a push button VHF/MW/LW push button radio, quartz clock housed in a centre console unit, four spoke soft feel steering wheel, additional sound insulation, a lockable compartment for valuables under the boot floor and twin vanity mirrors in the sunvisors.
