Ford Fiesta Mk2 Olympus Sport (1988-89)

Skip to a section: Colour & Trim Known Cars

Released in 1989, The Olympus Sport was produced as a limited edition run of 1000 vehicles, similar in specification to the 1.4S but with the notable addition of an unpainted RS accessory bodykit.

The Olympus was marketed as an attractively priced small car with a sporting image. The cars all came finished in Diamond White paint and featured a 1400 CVH engine couple to a 5 speed manual box. Aside from being the olnly Mk2 to feature the RS bodykit as standard, the car also featured a unique combination of trim parts. The interior was finished in tracer cloth, more commonly seen on the basic models, but in contrast it also came equipped with full height door cards, a high spec dash and a steering wheel borrowed from the XR2.

It is rumoured that the Olympus was made as a celebration of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, it is also popular belief that just one car was issued to each Ford dealership. There was only one known press car, registration F128 HWC which featured in all promotional media at the time. The car was first registered during the period August 1988 to July 1989 in Chelmsford which was the usual place that press Fiestas gained their plates.
