Mk1 Ford Fiesta Million (1979) Model Info
In February 1979, after only 29th months of production, the Ford Fiesta hit a major milestone with the one millionth car rolling off the production line. To celebrate this fact, Ford released a limited Edition version of the L model called the Million or 'Millionth Edition' as it is sometimes known. A run of 3100 'Fiesta Million' vehicles were produced in March 1979 at Ford's Dagenham factory, although very few are now known to remain.
The Million cars were available in either black or metallic grey at no extra cost, and came equipped with some distinctive red decals down the sides, and a red insert in the all black bumpers. Other features included wider steel wheels with 'S' style wheel trims, a rear windscreen wiper, black window surrounds (as opposed to chrome), two exterior mirrors with black backs, a reverse light and tinted glass.
On the inside the Fiesta Million was upholstered in black fabric with red chequered 'Scott' fabric, similar to the interior of the Capri S. It also had head rests and a centre console as standard.
Under the bonnet the Million ran either the 950cc OHV engine producing a whopping 40 bhp or it's 1.1 big brother.
