1980 Mk1 Ford Fiesta Firefly Special Edition Model Information
The Mk1 Ford Fiesta Firefly was a limited edition model released in July 1980. 2000 vehicles rolled off the production line and it is now one of the rarer special editions, possibly due to it's low spec making it less desirable during the period where these cars were almost worthless and regularly scrapped. The Firefly was built on the 'base' model, and fitted with the same uprated suspension as used on the 'S' model and buyers were offered either a 950cc (40bhp) or nippier 1117cc engine.
Externally the Firefly had triple colour side decals, varying in colour depending on paint choice, and colour coded 4 1/2" steel wheels. The interior was trimmed in colour-keyed Chevron fabric, and a 4 spoke Ghia steering wheel added a little luxury. Equipment included a push button Ford P21 radio, intermittent wipe/electric screen washers and a passenger door mirror.
